Kigali, Rwanda – May 19, 2023 — The Rwandan Defence Forces successfully hosted the 10th National Security Symposium (NSS) from May 17 to May 19, 2023, a prestigious event that brought together thought leaders, policymakers, and experts from across the globe to deliberate on critical issues shaping Africa’s security landscape. Held in Kigali, this landmark symposium reaffirmed Rwanda's role as a hub for innovation and dialogue in addressing the continent’s most pressing security challenges.
The symposium, renowned for its emphasis on fostering collaboration and innovation, featured a diverse array of speakers and panel discussions aimed at crafting actionable solutions to Africa’s multifaceted security concerns. Among the standout sessions was the fifth session, titled "The Impact of Emerging Digital Technologies on Economy, Diplomacy, and Security in Africa."
This session featured a compelling speech by Ms. Sanjana Rathi, a distinguished thought leader, who delivered insightful perspectives on the transformative role of digital technologies. Her speech underscored how emerging digital innovations are reshaping Africa’s economic frameworks, enhancing diplomatic engagements, and influencing security paradigms. Highlighting both opportunities and challenges, Ms. Rathi called for robust digital infrastructure, forward-thinking policy frameworks, and strengthened regional cooperation to ensure that the continent harnesses the potential of digital transformation while addressing cybersecurity risks.
