Day 1 — Foundations & the Regulatory Landscape
Shared vocabulary, the ethical principles that anchor every AI governance decision, and a clear-eyed tour of the regulation that now applies to them.
Why AI Ethics, Now
Grounding the day in real incidents — biased hiring and credit-scoring algorithms, deepfake fraud, autonomous-decision failures — and why voluntary principles are becoming enforceable obligations.
The Core Ethical Principles
Fairness, transparency, accountability, human oversight, safety, and privacy-by-design — what each principle actually requires in practice, not just as a value statement.
The EU AI Act, Explained Plainly
The risk-tiered structure (unacceptable / high / limited / minimal risk), what's already in force (GPAI obligations since 2 August 2025), what's due this year (Article 50 transparency obligations, 2 August 2026), and the Digital Omnibus deferral of high-risk Annex III obligations to 2 December 2027.
Beyond the EU: A Global Regulatory Tour
Sectoral and state-level approaches in the US, India's evolving framework, and ISO/IEC 42001 as the emerging international, certifiable AI management system standard that regulators increasingly point to as evidence of good governance.
Workshop: Mapping Your AI Systems
A hands-on exercise — participants classify a set of real-world AI use cases (including examples brought from their own organisation) against the EU AI Act's risk tiers and identify which obligations apply.
Day 2 — Applied Governance & Operationalising Ethics
Turning principles into a governance program: oversight design, bias testing, incident response, and a plan participants take home.
Human Oversight, Done Properly
Design patterns for meaningful human-in-the-loop review — escalation thresholds, override authority, and why a checkbox reviewer doesn't satisfy 'human oversight' under any serious framework.
Bias, Fairness & Data Governance
Practical approaches to testing for bias, understanding dataset provenance, and applying fairness metrics without needing a PhD in statistics to do it responsibly.
AI Incident Response & Accountability
Building traceability and logging into AI systems from day one, classifying AI incidents, and knowing when an incident triggers an internal escalation versus an external regulatory notification.
Building an AI Governance Program
Aligning a governance structure to ISO/IEC 42001 — roles (AI governance committee, AI/data protection officer), documentation, and running an AI impact assessment before deployment, not after an incident.
Capstone Exercise & Certification
A scenario-based group tabletop exercise applying the two days' material to a realistic AI deployment decision, followed by a certification assessment and program wrap-up.

In-Person Intensive

Live Online — Rolling Cohorts
- Delivered live online (not pre-recorded) by the same facilitators, in rolling monthly cohorts
- 10 hours split flexibly — commonly five 2-hour live sessions across two weeks — to fit working schedules
- Workshops and the capstone exercise run as facilitated breakout sessions with shared digital workspaces
- Best for distributed or global teams, or when you can't get a full cohort in one room at once
Certification
Participants who complete either format and pass the capstone assessment receive a Certificate of Completion in AI Ethics & Principles, issued by The CyberDiplomat.

Do participants need a technical background?
No. The program is deliberately built for a mixed room — engineers, product leaders, compliance officers and executives all attend the same sessions, with technical concepts explained in plain language.
Can the in-person format run at our own offices?
Yes. We deliver on-site globally, or at our training centres in the US and India — travel and logistics are scoped during registration.
How does the 'rolling' online cohort work?
New online cohorts open monthly rather than on a fixed annual calendar. Register any time and we'll confirm the next available start date and session schedule for your timezone.
Is this training accredited?
This programme is not currently within our NABET accreditation scope, which covers Governance, Risk & Compliance and Cyber Training & Awareness. Participants receive a Certificate of Completion from The CyberDiplomat on passing the capstone assessment.
